Trek Across Manaslu’s Untouched Beauty

TRIP OVERVIEW

  • Duration 19
  • Difficulty hard
  • Max Altitude 5213
Manaslu region is located in western central Nepal. It is one of the most remarkable trekking destinations, which offers you an opportunity to experience relatively “unspoilt” region. Manaslu is one of the recently opened areas for trekking with a limited number of tourists each year .The trek is geographically spectacular and culturally fascinating. The views of Manaslu and other neighboring peaks are spectacular from the Larkya La Pass. Much of this trek is in a region of strong Tibetan influence. The inhabitants of upper Buri Gandaki region are Nupri, who are direct descendants of Tibetan immigration. Buddhist prayer flags and chortens are abundant in theregion.
Officially opened to trekking in 1990 and just as suddenly forbidden again, it was finally “reopened” in 1992 along with Mustang. A Government quota, however, limits the number of visitors to the area. Going north, up the river valley of the Buri Gandaki and then behind Mt. Himalchuli Peak (25,889ft-7893m) and Mt. Manaslu (26,627ft-8118 m) to cross the Larkya La (La = Pass) at 17,099ft (5213m). The way of living is unchanged for decades and maybe, even centuries. Strenuous trekking is constantly rewarded with brilliant mountain vistas of the Ganesh and Manaslu Himal ranges and insights into the cultures of a cross-section of ethnic Nepalese tribes and people, perhaps not available on any other trek.
